JONAS LIPPS

The work of Jonas Lipps, born in 1979 in Freiburg, addresses the visible and invisible facets of life. The artist, who lives in Berlin, develops fascinating image worlds in watercolours and drawings, which move between caricature, dream and childhood, and in his collages and photographs trace the meaning and nonsense of everyday life. Thus, representations of witches, officials and donkeys make observations on their urban environment. Inner worlds are compared to outer worlds and differences seem to disappear. Regardless of the respective medium and subject, his works are, despite or perhaps because of their remarkable casualness, marked by their hugely artistic, in part seductive sophistication, making it difficult to get them out of one’s mind again.
